OUR VISION

Bridgeview Community Mental Health Center aims to be a comprehensive, community-based provider dedicated to offering mental health services and support for individuals and families in our service areas through our ability to anticipate and respond to change. We count on the on- going support of our communities and pledge ourselves to respond to that support with a high degree of service quality and financial accountability.

OUR MISSION

The mission of Bridgeview Community Mental Health Center is to provide comprehensive, caring, quality mental health services to individuals in Clinton County and surrounding areas. Bridgeview provides professional and confidential counseling, treatment, and care for emotional and behavioral problems for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Our multi-disciplinary team of a licensed psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioners, clinical social workers, mental health counselors, nurses, and other mental health professionals are accredited through the State of Iowa, Mental Health and Disabilities Commission. The Bridgeview staff cooperates with other healthcare professionals, community/human service agencies, state and local mental health facilities, as well as other related professionals in providing a continuum of quality care to clients.

History

The Community Mental Health Act of 1963, passed as part of John F. Kennedy's New Frontier, established a system of community-based care, instead of institutional care, across the U.S. for people with mental illness. The Mental Health Center of Clinton County was founded in 1969 as one of thirty-two private not-for-profit corporations delivering a wide variety of community-based mental health services to the residents of Iowa. Dr. Huyck was the first administrator and director. He devoted his time to developing trained staff to treat patients within the community and reduce outside hospitalization and allow clients to live successfully in the community. As the years passed, the name of the center changed from the original Mental Health Center of Clinton County to the Heartland Center, to the Clinton County Mental Health Center, to Bridgeview Community Mental Health Center. In August of 2023, Bridgeview affiliated with Bethany for Children & Families.

Affiliation with Bethany for Children & Families

On August 7, 2023, Bridgeview Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) and Bethany for Children &Families (Bethany) became affiliated agencies. The goal of this arrangement is to enhance the operations of both organizations while continuing to provide quality mental health services to the surrounding communities of Eastern Iowa.
